Turkish Rose — Maroon Rose & Musk Attar
Turkish Rose captures the darker, jammier side of rose — deep maroon rather than pale pink — wrapped in warm musk for a velvety, romantic attar rather than a light, powdery one. This rose attar is oil-based and alcohol-free, hand-blended in India with the same devotion behind every bottle we make, carrying the old idea from the Rig Veda's Sri Sukta that fragrance is gandhadvara — a doorway through which beauty enters a home — an instinct shaping both Kannauj's rose tradition and Turkey's own famous rose fields across centuries of shared perfumery history.
The Notes
The opening is dark, jammy maroon rose, deep and velvety rather than sharp or green. Warm musk settles into the base, rounding the rose into something genuinely romantic and skin-close. As an oil attar, it sits close and unfolds slowly, growing warmer and more velvety over several hours rather than fading quickly.
Mood and Character
The character is velvety and romantic — an attar for a woman who wants rose with genuine depth rather than a light, fleeting version. It suits daily wear, weddings, and pooja alike, and works beautifully layered beneath a bolder rose-based eau de parfum for special occasions.
When and How to Wear It
Dab, don't rub, at the wrists, behind the ears, and at the throat. A small amount genuinely goes a long way, blooming with body warmth over several hours. Layer it beneath Royal Rose or Rose Valley for an even fuller rose accord on formal occasions.
Is it alcohol-free? Yes, a true oil attar suited to daily wear and prayer alike. Is it very sweet? Deep and velvety rather than sugary — a grown-up rose rather than a young, fresh one. Every bottle is hand-blended in India, honest about its richness. If fragrance really is a doorway, as the old texts describe, Turkish Rose is a genuine contender for the best rose attar for women who want depth and romance rather than a light floral touch. Store it away from direct heat and sunlight to preserve the rose's velvety richness, and consider it a strong choice for weddings and festive occasions specifically, where its depth can properly unfold against heavier fabrics like silk and brocade rather than being lost against something lighter and more casual. Good for gifting on an anniversary or wedding? A deeply fitting, romantic choice, since rose has always carried that particular symbolic weight across Indian and Turkish perfumery traditions alike, making it a gift with real meaning behind the scent itself. Its velvety depth also makes it a strong candidate for a woman's signature evening attar, kept specifically for the occasions when a lighter, fresher rose simply would not carry enough weight for the moment, and the evening genuinely calls for something more, the kind of quiet richness that lingers in memory well past the occasion itself, long after the evening it was worn for has come to its own close, one of those rare fragrances people remember specifically, by name, well after they last encountered it.

The Vessel Is You
attardaan
अत्तरदान
noun — the vessel that holds the attar
An attardaan is a real object. Long before it was our name, it was the small ornate box a household kept its perfume in — brought out for weddings, for guests, for the days worth marking. The word says exactly what it is: attar, the fragrance; daan, the holder.
We call the people who wear our scents Attardaans because the name has quietly changed hands. A bottle keeps a fragrance for a while. You give it warmth, a pulse, and somewhere to go. Worn, a scent stops being something you own and becomes something you carry.
In the Rig Veda's Śrī Sūkta, Lakshmi Ji is invoked as Gandhadvārām — she who is approached through fragrance.
The Śrī Sūkta · Rig Vedagandha, fragrance · dvāra, doorway
Which is why, to us, our Attardaans are the most beautiful people we know.

Our Customers Ask
Our fragrances are hand-blended in the traditional attar style using concentrated oils, so they sit close to the skin and unfold gradually over several hours. Wear time varies with skin type, climate and how much you apply — for the best results, apply to pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) on slightly moisturised skin right after a shower.
An attar is a traditional Indian fragrance oil, made the old way and typically alcohol-free, so it's applied directly to the skin and blooms slowly. A perfume (eau de parfum) usually uses an alcohol base, which makes the scent lift faster but fade sooner. At Attardaan, we work in the Kannauj attar tradition — hand-blended, concentrated, and made to last.
Most of our fragrances are crafted in the traditional attar style and are alcohol-free. Composition can vary across our range, so please check the individual product's description for the exact details of the fragrance you're looking at, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll confirm before you buy.
Our fragrances are hand-blended using quality ingredients and are generally gentle on the skin. That said, everyone's skin reacts differently to fragrance oils. If you have sensitive skin or a known fragrance allergy, we recommend a small patch test on your inner wrist before applying it more widely.
It depends on how you like to wear your fragrance. A 10ml is perfect for trying a scent, travel, or keeping in your bag for touch-ups. A 100ml is a comfortable everyday bottle for regular use. A 200ml suits someone who's found their signature scent and wants it to last without reordering often. Not sure yet? Start smaller and size up once you know it's the one.
