The Scent
Lavanya means grace, and it's the name we've given to our brightest, most elegant lavender — a French lavender room freshener spray that reads crisper and more floral than a typical herbal lavender, closer to a field in bloom at dusk than a jar of dried herbs on a shelf. It still carries lavender's instantly recognisable calm — that soft, slightly camphorous hush that almost everyone associates with rest — but with a lighter, more refined edge, which is why we reached for a word that means grace rather than one that simply means peace. Spray it and the air turns a shade softer immediately, without ever tipping into the sharp, medicinal quality some lavender fragrances have.
Fragrance as the Doorway
Lavender travelled a long way to reach an Attardaan bottle — it isn't native to Indian perfumery the way rose, sandalwood or khus are — but the impulse behind using it is entirely at home here. The Rig Veda's Śrī Sūkta calls the goddess Lakshmi Ji Gandhadvārām, "she whose gateway is fragrance," describing the old belief that a beautiful scent is literally how grace and prosperity enter a home, not just how it's perfumed. Attardaan takes its own name from the attardaan, the ornate sealed casket that once held a king's most precious attars, and everything we bottle — including a European note like French lavender — gets the same hand-blended-in-India care and honesty about what's actually inside. Lavanya is our proof that this philosophy isn't limited to oud and rose; it extends to any note worth doing properly.
Where to Use It
This French lavender room freshener spray belongs in bedrooms and bathrooms above all — spritz it after a shower, before bed, or into any room that needs to feel a touch more composed than it currently does. It's an especially safe choice for guest rooms, where a clean, universally-liked scent matters more than a bold, opinionated one, and for households with more than one person choosing the fragrance, since almost nobody actively dislikes lavender. Because it fades gently rather than lingering aggressively, it's a forgiving fragrance to reapply through the day — morning, after a nap, before guests arrive — without ever building up into something overwhelming. Use it as your go-to air freshener whenever a room needs freshening up fast.
Why Attardaan
Hand-blended in India with a real French lavender fragrance oil at an honest concentration, Lavanya is proof that "clean" and "characterful" aren't opposites — this isn't a thin, watered-down lavender spray that vanishes in minutes. We keep our descriptions straightforward: no invented European backstory doing the marketing for us, just the actual note in the bottle, blended with the same attention we give oud, saffron and musk. Fragrance is the doorway, and Lavanya is one of its gentlest, most graceful ways in.

The Vessel Is You
attardaan
अत्तरदान
noun — the vessel that holds the attar
An attardaan is a real object. Long before it was our name, it was the small ornate box a household kept its perfume in — brought out for weddings, for guests, for the days worth marking. The word says exactly what it is: attar, the fragrance; daan, the holder.
We call the people who wear our scents Attardaans because the name has quietly changed hands. A bottle keeps a fragrance for a while. You give it warmth, a pulse, and somewhere to go. Worn, a scent stops being something you own and becomes something you carry.
In the Rig Veda's Śrī Sūkta, Lakshmi Ji is invoked as Gandhadvārām — she who is approached through fragrance.
The Śrī Sūkta · Rig Vedagandha, fragrance · dvāra, doorway
Which is why, to us, our Attardaans are the most beautiful people we know.

Our Customers Ask
Our fragrances are hand-blended in the traditional attar style using concentrated oils, so they sit close to the skin and unfold gradually over several hours. Wear time varies with skin type, climate and how much you apply — for the best results, apply to pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) on slightly moisturised skin right after a shower.
An attar is a traditional Indian fragrance oil, made the old way and typically alcohol-free, so it's applied directly to the skin and blooms slowly. A perfume (eau de parfum) usually uses an alcohol base, which makes the scent lift faster but fade sooner. At Attardaan, we work in the Kannauj attar tradition — hand-blended, concentrated, and made to last.
Most of our fragrances are crafted in the traditional attar style and are alcohol-free. Composition can vary across our range, so please check the individual product's description for the exact details of the fragrance you're looking at, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll confirm before you buy.
Our fragrances are hand-blended using quality ingredients and are generally gentle on the skin. That said, everyone's skin reacts differently to fragrance oils. If you have sensitive skin or a known fragrance allergy, we recommend a small patch test on your inner wrist before applying it more widely.
It depends on how you like to wear your fragrance. A 10ml is perfect for trying a scent, travel, or keeping in your bag for touch-ups. A 100ml is a comfortable everyday bottle for regular use. A 200ml suits someone who's found their signature scent and wants it to last without reordering often. Not sure yet? Start smaller and size up once you know it's the one.
