The Scent

Gehra means deep, and this is our boldest, most concentrated vetiver room freshener spray — earthy, rooty and unapologetically green, without the softening or blending that mellows some of our other khus-based scents. Where Khus Mahal tempers vetiver with oud, Gehra Khus lets vetiver speak almost entirely for itself: cool, mineral, faintly smoky, the smell of wet earth and cut grass roots rather than anything sweet or floral. It's a distinctive, opinionated fragrance, built for people who already know they love vetiver rather than for a first introduction to it.

Fragrance as the Doorway

Vetiver — khus — has cooled Indian homes for generations, woven into curtains hung over doorways and windows during summer, where water evaporating through the roots would carry its earthy scent through the house on the breeze. That's a strikingly literal version of the idea Attardaan is built on: the Rig Veda's Śrī Sūkta calls the goddess Lakshmi Ji Gandhadvārām, "she whose gateway is fragrance," and khus curtains are perhaps the most direct historical example of scent doing exactly that at an actual doorway. Gehra Khus, hand-blended in India, is our tribute to that tradition, taking its name from the attardaan, the sealed casket that once held a king's attars.
