- ◆Suits bedrooms and formal living rooms that want depth, not just sweetness
The Scent
Gulaab Oudh pairs two of the most storied notes in Indian perfumery — gulaab (rose) and oudh (agarwood) — into a room freshener spray that reads as both romantic and serious. Rose opens it, velvety and slightly jammy rather than soapy or sharp, and beneath it sits a dark, smoky oud that keeps the whole thing grounded. Where a pure floral spray can feel a little young, Gulaab Oudh feels grown-up — the kind of room freshener spray you'd expect in a well-appointed drawing room rather than a teenager's bedroom. It's rich without being heavy, and it lingers rather than shouting.
Fragrance as the Doorway
Rose and oud have travelled together through Indian and Middle Eastern perfumery for centuries — the two materials that show up again and again in attars, in temple offerings, in wedding rituals. Attardaan exists to keep that pairing alive in a modern room spray. Our name comes from the attardaan, the sealed casket that once held a king's precious attars, and the philosophy behind it is older still: the Rig Veda's Śrī Sūkta names the goddess Lakshmi Ji Gandhadvārām, "she whose gateway is fragrance," because a beautiful scent was believed to be the doorway through which abundance entered a home. Kannauj, India's 5,000-year-old perfume city, is where rose and oud have been distilled together for generations by the slow deg-bhapka method — Gulaab Oudh, hand-blended in India, carries that same spirit into a simple room spray bottle.
Where to Use It
Use this luxury room spray in living rooms and entryways — anywhere you want a visitor's first impression to be a plush one. It suits evenings more than mornings, festivals more than everyday errands, and pairs beautifully with warm lighting and soft furnishings, which hold the rose-oud blend the longest. A couple of sprays before guests arrive is usually enough; this is a fragrance that fills a room generously. It also layers well with our Rose & Oud diffuser oil if you want the same signature running continuously through the day rather than in bursts. Use it as your go-to air freshener whenever a room needs freshening up fast.
Why Attardaan
Every bottle of Gulaab Oudh is hand-blended in India with real rose and oud fragrance oils — no synthetic shortcuts pretending to be the real thing. We keep our naming honest: no invented luxury story, no borrowed designer references, just the actual notes that make up the scent. This is the room freshener spray for anyone who wants their home to smell the way a good rose-oud attar smells on skin — except filling an entire room. Fragrance is the doorway, and this is one of our richest ways through it.

The Vessel Is You
attardaan
अत्तरदान
noun — the vessel that holds the attar
An attardaan is a real object. Long before it was our name, it was the small ornate box a household kept its perfume in — brought out for weddings, for guests, for the days worth marking. The word says exactly what it is: attar, the fragrance; daan, the holder.
We call the people who wear our scents Attardaans because the name has quietly changed hands. A bottle keeps a fragrance for a while. You give it warmth, a pulse, and somewhere to go. Worn, a scent stops being something you own and becomes something you carry.
In the Rig Veda's Śrī Sūkta, Lakshmi Ji is invoked as Gandhadvārām — she who is approached through fragrance.
The Śrī Sūkta · Rig Vedagandha, fragrance · dvāra, doorway
Which is why, to us, our Attardaans are the most beautiful people we know.

Our Customers Ask
Our fragrances are hand-blended in the traditional attar style using concentrated oils, so they sit close to the skin and unfold gradually over several hours. Wear time varies with skin type, climate and how much you apply — for the best results, apply to pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) on slightly moisturised skin right after a shower.
An attar is a traditional Indian fragrance oil, made the old way and typically alcohol-free, so it's applied directly to the skin and blooms slowly. A perfume (eau de parfum) usually uses an alcohol base, which makes the scent lift faster but fade sooner. At Attardaan, we work in the Kannauj attar tradition — hand-blended, concentrated, and made to last.
Most of our fragrances are crafted in the traditional attar style and are alcohol-free. Composition can vary across our range, so please check the individual product's description for the exact details of the fragrance you're looking at, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll confirm before you buy.
Our fragrances are hand-blended using quality ingredients and are generally gentle on the skin. That said, everyone's skin reacts differently to fragrance oils. If you have sensitive skin or a known fragrance allergy, we recommend a small patch test on your inner wrist before applying it more widely.
It depends on how you like to wear your fragrance. A 10ml is perfect for trying a scent, travel, or keeping in your bag for touch-ups. A 100ml is a comfortable everyday bottle for regular use. A 200ml suits someone who's found their signature scent and wants it to last without reordering often. Not sure yet? Start smaller and size up once you know it's the one.
